Maronite Patriarch Regretted Terrorism in the Levant under the Guise of Political Reforms and Democracy

BEIRUT, (ST)_ Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros al-Raee regretted  ” the transformation of the Levant area  in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Palestine, to a place of suffering after the sanctity of this land  was tarnished by  wars , strife , violence and terrorism for political and economic under the guise of political reforms and democracy.”

In  the Sunday sermon yesterday the Patriarch considered  that “planning  and inciting, funding and providing arms and money to those who oppress people represent an invincible stain on  the culture of the 21st century, ”  noting that “this violence left  behind innocent refugees and victims .”

The patriarch lamented “the indifference of the big and rich countries  concerning  the innocent victims” as a result of wars and terrorism, pointing out that these countries ” escaped their obligations concerning  these victims.

He called on political leaders in Lebanon to “take bold and heroic stands ” to take Lebanon out of its  political crisis, adding that this can be through the formation of a new  capable government and approval of a new election law that fits both  the homeland and citizens.

During his  illumination of  the  Christmas tree on Sunday  evening in  Bikirki ,  Patriarch Beshara al-Raee recalled  his call to pray for peace in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt and Iraq.

“We pray tonight for peace in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, and we also pray in particular for ending the war in Syria and to bring peace to the world at large.” The Maronite Patriarch stressed.
