Maronite Patriarch : Dark Forces Ignite Sedition in the Name of Democracy

BEIRUT,(ST)_ Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros al-Rai  stressed  the existence  of  dark forces seeking to dismantle the countries and institutions and to ignite sedition among different communities in the name of democracy and “Arab Spring.”

In a sermon , he delivered in  Bkirki on Monday, Patriarch al-Rai said: . “We can only face these disastrous acts through faith in the resurrection, the ultimate  victory of life over death , the consciousness  of friendly countries and the good intentions, calling for reason  and peace among people.”

He  warned against the escalation  of extremism , intolerance and the spread of obscurantism fed by political disputes and regional  and  international power centers noting that ” We are driven  by painful events threatening  us to intensify efforts in the service of peace and the good for humanity.”

The Patriarch noted  the need to address these challenges especially  as  “the region  which was the cradle  of civilizations  suffers division ,conflict, pain ,blood and tears.”
