Mari: I invite all Syrians to participate in the presidential elections and choose the most qualified candidate to serve Syria
The candidate for the presidential elections for the opposition, the Syrian Democratic Front, Mahmoud Ahmad Mari, called on all Syrians to participate in the elections and choose the most efficient candidate and the best program to serve Syria.
In an interview with Syrian TV, Mari said that Syria was subjected to aggression and a conspiracy, but at the same time there were right and legitimate demands.
He added that the crisis in Syria requires a political solution and more participation and activation of political life, stressing that everyone who calls for tightening sanctions against Syria is an agent and traitor.
Mari said: “There are foreign parties that wanted to destroy Syria and implement a Zionist-American desire in the region, just as they destroyed Iraq and Libya. We, as a political opposition, have real reform demands, and despite all that we suffered at that stage, we do not sell our homeland and we do not abandon Syria.”
Mari said: “We started the dialogue with the Syrian state on April 24, 2011 to lay down a road map for how to get out of the crisis.”
Mari said: “I am a candidate on behalf of the Syrian Democratic Front, which includes six parties, licensed parties. I am not a candidate for the internal or external opposition. I am a candidate for the opposition Syrian Democratic Front.”
Mari said: “The unilateral sanctions were put in place by the American administration to put pressure on the Syrian state and the Syrian people. Americans moved from the military war to the economic war. The difficult economic and living conditions that the Syrian citizen is experiencing are a result of sanctions.”
Mari added: “We must all say together and within the framework of my advertising campaign that we are together for a Syrian-Syrian dialogue conference, for a national unity government, for the release of prisoners of conscience and to honor the families of the martyrs.”
Mari concluded: “I will respect the will of the Syrian voter and any result that the Syrians decide, respect it. I invite all Syrians to participate in these presidential elections and to choose the best program and the most efficient candidate to serve and build Syria.”
