As part of the activities of the “Light from Aleppo” week held with the participation of five associations concerned with caring for people with disabilities, 700 persons with disabilities, aged between 14-40, participated in the “Light Marathon” (Al-Nour) which was held by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Aleppo and its dependencies.
Archbishop Avram Maalouli stressed in a statement to SANA the importance of the event which aimed to involve people with disabilities in community activities as an expression of solidarity with this group of society.
Head of the “Hand in Hand” Association for People with Disabilities Zainab Khawla indicated that the “light Marathon” contributed to integrating children with disabilities of other associations with other children, and raising the awareness of the society about the importance of believing in the abilities of this category.
For her part, Noha Jouda expressed her happiness with her son’s participation in the event, which contributed to making people with disabilities happier and helped them overcome their disability over time.
George Nazarian, the player of the Syrian national basketball team, who participated in the event, called for believing in the abilities of people with disabilities, developing their skills to make their world better and working together with them to prove themselves in various fields.
