Marathon for cancer patients in support of presidential elections

Damascus (ST): A sports marathon was held in Damascus today, with the participation of 200 young men and women in support of the presidential elections scheduled to take place on the 26th of May.

The marathon, organized by the Alissar Charitable Foundation for the Care and Treatment of Children with Cancer started from the Housing Bus Stop in Mezzeh towards the Umayyad Square, where participants from cancer patients and others from different age groups gathered and chanted slogans expressing their support for the constitutional entitlement and the Syrian Arab Army.

The Director of the Psychosocial Support Program at the Foundation, Dr. Ghina Najati, stated that the marathon came in conjunction with the activities of the constitutional entitlement, and therefore cancer patients wanted to express through it their idea that they will defeat disease and defeat with it by sharing their constitutional rights, the cancer of terrorism and the cancer of anyone who tries to interfere in Syrian affairs.

A number of the participating cancer patients confirmed that their participation today is to deliver a message of joy, love and peace from Syria and its sons who stand by her, whatever their circumstances. Hassan Da’aboul indicated that he will participate in the upcoming elections and give his vote to the person who supported and was alongside cancer patients, while Jocelyn Slaipe said that she participated in the marathon to say that she and her colleagues support the presidential elections and are keen on making it successful.

Hassan Fares, one of the Foundation’s volunteers, stressed the need for participation from various segments and groups of society, to go to the ballot boxes and choose the appropriate candidate, noting that this entitlement confirms that the Syrians are sons of civilization and values.
