Mansour: Israeli occupation’s terrorism in Gaza is an insult to humanity

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations Riyad Mansour affirmed that the terrorism being practiced by the Israeli occupation in the besieged Gaza Strip is an insult to humanity and it cannot be justified under any pretext, stressing the need for the international community to take serious steps to stop it.

The Palestinian News Agency WAFA reported that Mansour made it clear in identical letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council, and the President of the UN General Assembly that “Israel,” the occupying force, continues to wage its fierce war against the Palestinian people, ignoring global calls for a ceasefire and calls from the General Assembly and Security Council for a humanitarian truce.

Mansour pointed out that more than 13,000, including 5,500 children, were killed and more than 30,000 were injured in Gaza Strip, in addition to the death of more than 200 Palestinians and the injury of 3,000 in the West Bank since the occupation began its aggression against the Strip on the seventh of last October.

Mansour pointed out that the occupation bombed three UNRWA schools housing thousands of Palestinian families, which led to dozens of martyrs and wounded, in addition to directly bombing 17 UNRWA facilities, causing damage to 67 other facilities in various parts of Gaza, which led to the death of 176 displaced Palestinians and the injury of more than 800, wondering how it is possible to allow attacks on United Nations facilities and shelters repeatedly without any consequences.

Mansour stated that the occupation continues to warn the Palestinians to evacuate their homes in northern Gaza and demand that they leave to the south of the Strip while it continues its bombing of the south. He stressed the need to stop the crimes of forced displacement against the Palestinian people and to stop the deliberate policy of starvation, thirst and attacks on hospitals that amount to war crimes.

Mansour referred to the call of 21 independent special rapporteurs, experts and United Nations task forces for the urgent implementation of the ceasefire and their warning of “Israel’s” intention to destroy the Palestinian people who are suffering under the occupation.

Mansour renewed the call for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of Palestinian civilians, an end to the Palestinians’ forced displacement and the provision of humanitarian aid on a large scale without any obstacles. He affirmed the need for the Security Council and the General Assembly to take concrete measures to stop the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the rest of Occupied Palestine.
