Palestine’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, called on members of the UN Security Council to stop Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip, saying: “Treat us as human beings and do something to stop the crimes committed against our children, women, and patients”.
Mansour added in a speech during an emergency session of the UN Security Council last night on the situation in Gaza: “Our people have rights that have been deprived of them for decades and they must be recognized in order to live in peace. There are 3,500 Palestinian children killed by “Israel” in just 3 weeks, that is, more than the number of children killed in conflict zones around the world since 2019 combined”.
Mansour pointed out that every 5 minutes a Palestinian child is killed by “Israel” adding: “How many days will we wait until we say enough? You are suffering from paralysis and do not act or move to maintain international peace and security and stop this war”.
The Palestine delegate stressed the need for the UN Security Council to move to implement the UN General Assembly’s decision to cease-fire and put an end to the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip.
The Gaza Strip is subjected to a barbaric Israeli aggression that has resulted in the killing of thousands of Palestinian civilians, including women and children, in addition to the destruction of thousands of buildings, the targeting of hospitals and health facilities, and the cutting of water, electricity, and communications.
During several sessions on the situation in Gaza, the United Nations Security Council failed to adopt a draft resolution for a ceasefire in the Strip due to the American “veto”.
The international community fails to stop the occupation’s massacres in Gaza
The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nation, Riyad Mansour, confirmed On Monday, Mansour said in letters sent to the Secretary General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council, and the President of the United Nation General Assembly, that the failure of the international community to take action to stop the massacres that the Israeli occupation continues to commit in Gaza Strip with lethal weapons, constitutes a stain on the global conscience.
While the General Assembly adopted, on 27th of this month, a resolution calling for an immediate sustainable humanitarian truce and a cessations of hostilities in Gaza Strip, “Israel” the occupying power, ignored the demands of the international community, and violated all provisions of resolution by intensifying its criminal aggression against the Palestinians by air, sea and land, and cutting off all communications from Gaza, including from humanitarian workers, in order to commit crimes of terrorism and war away from the eyes of the world.
Mansour pointed out that more than 8,000 Palestinian were martyred in the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Strip over the past 24 days, including more than 3,000 children, more than 2,000 women. More than 20,240 people were also injured, he said. He added that 63 UNRWA employers, paramedics and journalists were killed , pointing out that there are more than 1,000 children missing and are likely to be under the rubble.
Mansour wondered why “Israel” has not been included on the list of violators of children’s rights yet.
