Mansour calls on the Security Council to put an end to the genocidal war in Gaza

New York, (ST) – The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the United Nations Riyad Mansour called on the Security Council to assume its duties under the United Nations Charter, and to urgently put an end to the genocidal war in Gaza.

Wafa Agency reported that Mansour sent three identical letters to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council, and the President of the UN General Assembly, in which he clarified that “Israel” ,the occupying power, continues the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people, while the international community has not taken any concrete action in this regard, which allows Israel to continue to escape punishment.

Mansour pointed out that the occupation bombed tents housing families who were recently forcibly displaced to the Tal Al-Sultan area in Rafah, even though the evacuation orders issued by the occupation had designated it as a “safe zone”, which resulted in the martyrdom of at least 45 Palestinians, most of whom were burned alive.

Mansour stated that the occupation insists on continuing the war of extermination in contempt of the International Court of Justice, which on the 24th of this month explicitly called for an immediate halt to the invasion of Rafah, and it continues its crimes in violation of international humanitarian law, all relevant United Nations resolutions and all global calls to stop the aggression that is being carried out. So far, it has resulted in the death of more than 36,000 Palestinians, the wounding of more than 81,000, and the infliction of massive destruction on Gaza Strip.

Mansour also called on the international community to take immediate action and demand immediate implementation of the ceasefire and protect the Palestinian people.

He stressed that the time has come to hold “Israel,” the occupying power, and all its officials accountable for their crimes, and impose an arms embargo and sanctions on it to force it to comply with international law, put an end to its occupation, and end the gross injustice to which the Palestinian people are exposed.
