Maloula infrastructure to be Rehabilitated Soon – Minister of Electricity

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Electricity Minister Imad Khamis stressed that Maloula town in rural Damascus, which had been attacked and vandalized by armed terrorist groups, would be rehabilitated over a short time.

“No language can describe the extent of black hatred of these terrorists and the sabotage and destruction they made against Maloula ‘s churches and monasteries,” Khamis added in a tour in the town yesterday to inspect the size of vandalism inflicted by terrorist groups.

The Governor of Rural Damascus Hussein Makhlouf, said that all possibilities will be employed to restore normal life and full services to ensure conditions, availing the return of residents to their homes in Maloula, noting that assessment of damage started, and technical services workshops started operations after lifting of debris and clean up the town streets and squares.

The Bishop Moussa El-Khoury of the Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox church noted the criminal acts inflected on Maloula especially Mar Takla monastery, saying that ” Syria has always disseminated peace and love to the world, but they are sending us hate and crime,” adding that the war of terrorism will only increase solidarity of the Syrian people, thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian Army, who represents all Syrian strata.

Bishop El-Khoury indicated that icons of ancient churches and monasteries were stolen and smuggled by professional experts, who accompanied the terrorist groups in Maloula.

Meantime, a delegation of journalists and cultural and political figures visited Maloula and were shocked by the size of vandalism and destruction inflicted by the armed terrorist groups on the town, which represents a historical, religious and human legacy.
