Malaysia affirms its support for Palestine

KUALA LUMPUR, May 25, (ST) –Malaysia has welcomed the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) indicating provisional measures ordering Israel to refrain from acts under the Genocide convention, prevent and punish the direct and public incitement to genocide.

“Malaysia strongly urges the international community to intensify pressure on Israel to comply with the additional measures, as failing to do so would only make a mockery of the sanctity of the international law,” it said in a statement published today.

It stressed its firm support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Malaysia further highlighted the importance of accepting Palestine as a full member of the United Nations, according to WAFA New Agency.
