Makhlouf, Regional Director of the World Food Program discuss the possibility of expanding early recovery projects
Damascus (ST): The Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief, discussed today with the Regional Director of the World Food Program in Syria, Kenneth Crosley, cooperation with the program in the field of humanitarian aid and the possibility of expanding livelihood and early recovery projects.
Minister Makhlouf referred to the importance of the program’s work in Syria since the beginning of the war against it, and later within the framework of the humanitarian response to the earthquake, indicating that the challenges are great and the needs are increasing, and this requires more coordination, cooperation and striving to increase funding in accordance with national priorities, with an orientation to support livelihood and recovery projects in various sectors to contribute to securing needs.
For his part, Crosley indicated the continuation of providing support to those affected according to a specific program and within the available financing capabilities, stressing the importance of supporting those affected by the earthquake and looking forward to achieving more cooperation to improve response to the needs in Syria.
