DUBAI, Sep.29, (ST)-Within the activities of the World Green Economy Summit, which is being held in Dubai with the participation of Syria, the Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf, discussed with the Director of the World Green Economy Organization Abdul Rahim Sultan, the measures taken by the Syrian state to protect and preserve the environment, and the harm inflicted upon it as a result of the terrorism it was exposed to during the past years.
Makhlouf indicated that many legislations and decisions were issued and took into consideration the environmental dimension, mainly Investment Law No. 18 of 2021, which allows and encourages sustainable community development.
He affirmed that that are a lot of investment opportunities in Syria, especially in renewable energy projects and solid waste recycling, ass transportation that use environmentally friendly means.
Makhlouf also referred to the importance of cooperation with the World Green Economy Organization in the field of stimulating companies to invest in Syria.
For his part, the Director of the World Green Economy Organization expressed his interest in these proposals, and the possibility of cooperation with Syria in this regard, pointing out that there is great cooperation between the organization and investment companies operating in the private sector in the environmental field.
The summit, which concludes today, discussed 4 main topics related to energy, finance, food security, youth and other topics that contribute to advancing the process of transition towards a green economy and accelerating the wheel of sustainable development.
The 4-day event, which kicked off yesterday, is being held in conjunction with the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition “WETEX” and Dubai Solar Energy.
