Major Japanese company halts operations in occupied territories due to Israeli aggression on Gaza

Tokyo, (ST)-The Japanese retail giant Seven & I has officially announced the cessation of its eight branches in the occupied Palestinian territories due to the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.

The Japanese Kyodo News Agency quoted the company as saying in a report: “The reason for stopping its activities is the continued Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip, which led to insecurity in the region.”

Seven & I, in cooperation with an American company, opened its first store in the occupied Palestinian territories in January 2022, and was planning to open more stores throughout these territories over the next six years.

The large Japanese company was established in 2005 and has extensive activities in various fields of retail, financial services, restaurants and real estate. It has a chain of stores around the world, and offers a variety of food products, beverages and home appliances.

It is noteworthy that many major international companies have suspended their activities inside the Israeli occupation entity as a result of its continued aggression on Gaza Strip and its attacks against countries in the region.
