Main points of joint press conference between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Miqdad  and his counterpart Sergey Lavrov

Lavrov:

• We reject any foreign interference in Syria’s affairs and stress the need to solve the crisis in it politically.
• The need for the international community to support the return of Syrian refugees away from any politicization.
• We condemn Israel’s bombing of Syrian territory and express our concern over the continued targeting of vital installations in Syria, as happened at Damascus International Airport.
• We are satisfied with the return of relations between Syria and a number of Arab countries, and we thank Syria for supporting our special operation in Ukraine.

Miqdad:

• Syrian-Russian relations are strategic and come in implementation of the desire of the peoples of the two countries to establish the best relations including economic ones.
• We highly value Russia’s stand next to Syria in the war against terrorism which destroyed and stole Syria’s heriatge.
• The US sponsors terrorism in Syria and it has destroyed the infrastructure and the economy. It continues its thefts of Syrian oil and riches while at the same time implementing illegal sanctions against Syria.
• Separatists Militias sponsored by Washington must stand next to their country and with the Syrian Arab Army.
• The Turkish regime should withdraw its forces from the lands it occupies in Syria and stop its support for terrorist organizations and its interference in the internal affairs of Syria.
•  Iran has provided everything that is required of it to revive the Nuclear Agreement, but Washington was the first to withdraw from it and now it wants to impose its conditions to return to this agreement.
• Syria was one of the first countries to recognize the independence the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic, noting that work is underway to establish diplomatic relations and exchange diplomatic missions during the next few days.
• Those who sponsor and support terrorism cannot be trusted.
• The assassination of Russian journalist Daria Dugin is a criminal act that cannot be tolerated and the perpetrators should be held to accountable.

Lavrov to SANA:

Guarantor countries to Astana in Tehran confirmed  the sovereignty and unity of Syria.

Miqdad to SANA: We have full trust in our Russian and Iranian friends who respect the sovereignty and unity of Syria.
