MahmanParast: Ending Crisis in Syria Best Way to Defend Syrian People’s Rights

TEHRAN, (ST)   Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mahmanparast has stressed that the best way to defend the Syrian people’s rights is to work hard to end the “conflict” in Syria and then help launching national dialogue so as the Syrians decide their future themselves.

In a statement to Iran’s News Agency (IRNA), Mahmanparast said some parties think that defending the Syrian people lies in providing financial and arms support to terrorist groups, but Iran sees that this is wrong as it escalates violence and causes more damage to innocent people.

“The best way to meet the Syrian people’s aspirations is to adopt the option of holding elections after stability is restored to Syria,” Mahmanparast said.

He added that his country’s policy is based on the principle of defending the rights of people all over the world not only in Syria, Bahrain, Egypt or Yemen.

“Despite the fact that Turkey differs with Iran on the situation in Syria, consultation and cooperation between the two countries to reach a solution to the crisis in Syria is a must,” Mahmanparast said, pointing out that regional cooperation to attain security and stability in the region is the best solution.

On the Bahraini issue, Mahmanparast said tension was escalated as the requests of the Bahraini people are being oppressed, pointing out that the solution can’t be attained by accusing Iran, but by responding to the people’s requests.
