“Magic of Disney” A musical evening at Russian Cultural Center in Damascus

The Music Club in the French School Charles de Gaulle held a musical evening at The Russian Cultural Center in Damascus led by Maestro Dulamah Shehab.

The Music Club presented music, collective and solo singing entitled “Magic of Disney” that gave Disney another meaning.

“The magic of Disney” musical evening was accompanied by a visual show. It was a musical show presented by creative Syrian musicians who were trained by music  experts and an administrative staff of the French School.

Maya Patsalides‎‏ from the administrative staff of the French School, told Syria times: “We founded the music club in the school last year to encourage students to love music and art because music is what brings out the talents of children.”

“The music club included students of all ages from 6 to 18 years. They  cooperate and work together. We held this party for Syrian children from the French school in the Russian Cultural Center to show the world Cultural diversity in Syria with the aim of encouraging talented students to play music” Maya said.

Maestro Dualamah Shehab said to Syria Times: “The orchestra consists of Students of the French school and the Higher Institute of Music. We presented a group of songs from Disney World. Members of the orchestra constitute   approximately 40 musicians and singers”.

“We trained students from the beginning of 2022, and we held this concert in support of young people who love to play and sing and support the musical movement,” he added.

In his turn, Musician FaresAl- Dahhan said: “I am a music student from the Higher Institute of Music. We started to train students at French School on music. Last year”.

“We taught students to play on several musical instruments. I was a percussion specialist. I trained students on the drums. Our goal was to encourage the students, and teach them to read the musical notes in an academic way, and encourage them to hold a concert.” Fares added.

Participating student, Saree Al-Sayed Moustapha said: “As a young saxophonist, I had the incredible opportunity to be a part of the orchestra, and it was an experience that left a profound impact on my musical journey.”

“Joining the orchestra meant immersing me in a world of talented young musicians who shared the same passion for music. Collaborating with them was an enriching and inspiring experience that pushed me to grow and excel as a saxophonist,” he said.

On her part, participating student Sidra Al-Sayed Moustapha said: “The children’s orchestra instilled in me a newfound sense of confidence, as I witnessed my own growth and development as a musician. It nurtured my belief in my own abilities and taught me that hard work and dedication can lead to remarkable achievements. I learned to embrace challenges and push beyond my comfort zone, knowing that the rewards of perseverance are immeasurable.”

“Reflecting on my time in the children’s orchestra fills me with overwhelming gratitude. I am grateful for the opportunities it provided, allowing me to cultivate my passion for music and develop my skills”.

“The lessons learned and the experiences gained in the children’s orchestra will forever hold a special place in my heart, shaping not only my musical journey but also influencing my approach to life.” Sidra added

The parent of participating students Saree and Sidra Al-Sayed  told Syria Times: “The children’s symphony orchestra was an incredible display of talent, dedication, and hard work. From the moment they stepped onto the stage, these young musicians exuded an infectious energy that filled the concert hall with excitement and joy. As I listened to their performance, it became evident that these were not your average young musicians – their level of skill and musicality surpassed their years.”

The parent added“They are undoubtedly the future professional musicians who will play with passion and bring happiness to their audience.The precision and passion with which they perform is a testament to the countless hours of practice and rehearsal that have gone into honing their craft.
