Caracas (ST): Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced his readiness to go to Mexico for negotiations with the opposition.
Maduro said in a statement broadcast on national television: “We are ready to go to Mexico, and we are ready to sit with the opposition according to a realistic, meaningful and authentic Venezuelan agenda to address the issues that must be addressed in order to reach agreements on peace and sovereignty and in order to lift the criminal sanctions imposed on Venezuela.”
The Venezuelan President has previously expressed on other occasions his willingness to dialogue with the opposition led by the right-wing, supported by the United States, Juan Guaido.
Maduro had confirmed in previous statements that the first point of dialogue with the opposition in his country would be “its abandonment of coups and the call for interventions and the invasion of Venezuela by external forces.”
