LUKEMBURG, (ST)- Foreign Minister of Luxemburg Jean Asselborn has renewed his call on the European countries to recognize Palestine as a state, stressing the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent Palestinian state within safe borders.
“It is necessary to maintain the “two-state solution” on the basis of the 1967 borders,” the Italian News Agency AKI quoted Asselborn as saying in a statement to reporters upon his arrival in Brussels on Monday to take part in the meetings of the foreign ministers of countries of the European Union.
He affirmed his rejection of the US stance which claims that the Israeli settlements don’t violate international law, reiterating that if Israel implements its plan to annex the Jordan Valley area it will be impossible to establish a Palestinian state.
