Lugansk Foreign Minister: We are preparing to open our embassy in Moscow

On August 18th, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Vladislav Denego, announced that his country is preparing to open an embassy in the Russian capital, Moscow.

“The Lugansk Republic is about to open an embassy now, and this means that a government decision has been issued in this regard, but its implementation needs some time and preparations are underway for that,” Denego told TASS.

As for the opening of embassies for Lugansk in capitals other than Moscow, Denego explained that this matter requires going step by step.

Regarding the accession of Lugansk to Russia, Denego announced that the status of the republic will be determined during the planned referendum in this regard.

Denego said that the Russian side should respond to the decision that the people of the Lugansk Republic will take because this issue falls under the jurisdiction of the State Duma.

Last month, the ambassador of the Lugansk People’s Republic to Russia, Rodion Mirosnik, announced that the Kiev authorities were attacking civilian targets in the Lugansk Republic with HIMARS missile launchers to prevent preparations for a referendum on the republic’s accession to Russia.
