Lugansk and Donetsk: Liberation of 40 residential areas from Ukrainian forces and the siege of the city of Mariupol

Donetsk and Lugansk (ST): The representative of the People’s Forces of the Donetsk People’s Republic Eduard Basurin announced that the city of Mariupol in eastern Ukraine had been besieged.

“Everything is going as planned. Mariupol is besieged and the forces will continue to move in the direction that will eventually help us stop the bombing of residential areas in Donetsk and Lugansk by Ukrainian forces,” Basurin said in a statement to Russia 24 channel.

Basurin indicated that “there will be a negotiation process to persuade the enemy to lay down their weapons, surrender or leave the city so that the civilian population does not suffer,” pointing out that a humanitarian corridor has been opened for the residents to leave the city.

In addition, the authorities of the Donetsk Republic announced the killing of 4 civilians and the wounding of 30 others as a result of shelling carried out by the Ukrainian forces, explaining that the Ukrainian forces fired 41 times on its territory.

For its part, the territory of the Lugansk Republic was bombed by Ukrainian forces 9 times, where 7 residential areas were targeted.
