Authorities in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) announced that they have thwarted a terrorist act planned by the Ukrainian intelligence service ahead of LPR’s popular referendum to join the Russian Federation.
Novosti News Agency quoted the LPR State Security Ministry as saying on Sunday that the Ukrainian intelligence service has also planned to assassinate a high ranking LPR official by poisoning him.
The referendum to join the Russian Federation is on its third day in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the LPR as well as in Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
Voting will continue until September 27.
