London imposes sanctions on 20 Saudi officials

London (ST): Britain has imposed sanctions on 20 officials from the Saudi regime  on the backgrounds of the killing of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khasheqji at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul in 2018.

Reuters quoted British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab as saying that the sanctions aim at halting bloodshed in that country.

The list of sanctions included the former advisor of the Saudi Crown Prince Saud al-Qahtani and former deputy chairman of the Saudi intelligence Ahmad al-Asiri, both accused of having role in Khasheqji’s killing.

Khasheqji was killed in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul in 2018 and the Saudi regime has narrated several contradictory stories about the crime to distance suspects about it. The Trump administration has been protecting the Saudi regime, especially the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
