Local Reconciliation Boosted in Hama, Homs

PROVINCES, (ST)-The village of al-Samra in the Syrian province of Hama on Sunday witnessed the signing of a local reconciliation agreement and pursuant to the agreement, a number of gunmen handed over their arms and pledged to defend the village and fight terrorist organizations which are attacking the locals.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Hama Governor Ghassan Khalaf and number of popular figures.

 The state news agency SANA reported the locals of the village expressed their support for the efforts exerted to reach a comprehensive reconciliation in the province and across the country, affirming their readiness to stand by the Syrian Arab Army in confrontation of terrorists.

The agreement also stipulates for reactivating governmental establishments and working with the parties concerned to encourage the village’s locals to return to their homes and normal lives after providing the services necessary for them and settling the legal status of wanted persons in the village, according to the agency.

In turn, Head of the Russian reconciliation center for Hama Sergey Ivanov referred to the humanitarian role played by the center in cooperation with the Syrian government to expand the scope of reconciliations and restore stability and security to the villages and towns that suffered from terrorism.

On May 4, more than 2000 displaced persons returned to their homes in Kawkab village after signing a local reconciliation in the village which is located about 20 km to the north of Hama city, SANA said.

210 people hand themselves into authorities in Homs

Meanwhile in Homs, 210 people handed themselves into authorities and have their legal status settled after they promised not to act against the security and stability of the homeland.

The process was carried out in coordination with local reconciliation committees in Homs, according to a Homs governorate source which said all the persons who tuned themselves in were workers at the Hessyaa industrial city.
