Local administration elections mark the beginning of a new stage for selecting efficient local councils: Makhlouf

Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussien Makhlouf stressed during a press conference on Monday that the local administration elections mark the beginning of a new stage for the work of administrative units and for selecting efficient local councils that can draw up development plans for the coming four years.

He said that the Syrians abroad are also invited to come back and participate in the elections so that they can play an effective role in reconstructing what terrorism has destroyed.

Makhlouf pointed out that the elected local councils will have full authority to do what is necessary for the development of their communities.

The minister also said that the ministry has accomplished a big part of work to complete drawing up the national plan for administrative decentralization in coordination with all other ministries, clarifying that the new financial law of the administrative units constitutes strong support for the development of all service sectors.
