Libya’s envoy reaffirms his country’s full support for Syria in preserving its sovereignty and territorial integrity

Libya’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Taher El-Sonni, reaffirmed his country’s full support for Syria and its people during the current circumstances.

 

According to the Libyan News Agency, El-Sonni stated on the X platform:

“During Libya’s presidency of the Arab Group, I was pleased to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Asaad Al-Sheibani, in New York. We held a joint meeting attended by ambassadors and representatives of the Arab Group.”

He pointed out that “Al- Sheibani provided a briefing on the latest developments in Syria and the efforts of the new transitional government and its leadership to confront the current political, security, and economic challenges, reaffirming the state’s approach to achieving unity through a comprehensive Syrian national dialogue.”

El-Sonni added: “On our part, we reaffirmed Libya’s full support for Syria and its people during these challenging times,”

He highlighted the importance of cooperation and joint efforts, and the need to draw on the experiences both brotherly countries have gone through over the past years.

“The discussion also touched on ways to enhance cooperation and the role of the Arab Group in supporting Syria and its people, helping them recover from the crises they have faced, while preserving Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability.” El-Sonni said
