Libyan Rescue Team: Our duty is to assist the Syrian brothers in relief operations in the areas affected by the earthquake
Damascus, ST) – Members of the Libyan rescue team, which arrived to support the Syrian rescue teams and other teams in the operations of pulling the victims from rubble resulted from of the earthquake that struck Syria last Monday, have confirmed their readiness to provide all forms of assistance, stressing that they are doing their duty towards their Syrian brothers.
Abdul Rahman Al-Sabti, the leader of the team that accompanied the Libyan aid plane that arrived yesterday at Damascus International Airport, explained to SANA reporter that the team includes 15 people from the Misrata Public Scout and Girl Guide Movement in Libya, pointing out that the Libyan aid was sent t o extend a helping hand for the Syrian people.
Regarding the team’s role and tasks, Al-Sabti said that the team provides assistance to paramedics treating the wounded, recovering corpses and building special tents in such emergency cases.
Al-Sabti and all the team members expressed their deep sorrow for the ordeal that befell Syria, and stressed the solidarity of the Libyan government and people with them the Syrian people.
It is to be noted that a Libyan aid plane arrived on the 11th of this month at Damascus International Airport, loaded with relief aid, including about 25 tons of foodstuffs, tents and rescue equipment, in addition to a rescue team consisting of 15 people.
