Letters on Chinese Grant to Syria Signed

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria and China on Thursday signed letters on grants provided by the Chinese government to Syria. The grants include scanners and buses at a value of $20 million.

Head of the Planning and International Cooperation Commission Imad Sabouni, who signed the letters for the Syrian side, told journalists that the exchanged letters come within the framework of the grant provided by China to Syria which includes 100 buses for the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment as well as many scanning devices for the customs directorate.

 On behalf of the Syrian government, Sabouni thanked the People’s Republic of China for its economic and political support for the Syrian people.

On his part, the Chinese Ambassador in Damascus Qi Qianjin stressed that his country will continue its firm support for the Syrian people, pointing out that the current developments create a new important chance for the Chinese government and companies to take part in the reconstruction process in Syria.

China has provided assistance to Syria on successively within the framework of the economic and technical cooperation agreement signed between the two countries in 2017.
