Lebanon’s Mansour: “Geneva2” will Hopefully Help End the Crisis in Syria

Beirut- Lebanon’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour has reiterated that only the Syrians can decide their future, expressing his hope that the international conference on Syria “Geneva 2” will be a success and will lead to ending the crisis in Syria.

In a statement on Tuesday upon his departure from Beirut to take part in Geneva 2, Mansour said that he supports political solution to the crisis in Syria and that the Syrians can determine their future themselves away from any foreign intervention that worsens the crisis.

He added that Lebanon, being a neighboring country to Syria, is concerned about the events going on there.

“The stability and security of Syria means the security and stability of Lebanon, so we are keen to have stability been attained in Syria through Syrian efforts and with the help of the international community,” Mansour added.

He pointed out that the Lebanese delegation to “Geneva2” will explain the dangerous situation resulted from terrorism and the suffering of the people in Lebanon as well as Syria, Iraq and other countries from the terrorist attacks with the purpose of mobilizing international efforts to uproot terrorism.

He said that Geneva 2 conference will hopefully succeed in bringing the almost three years old crisis in Syria to an end, pointing out that the foreign ministry had prepared its work program and message to the conference.
