Beirut, (ST) – Lebanon’s permanent mission to the United Nations in New York has filed a complaint to the Security Council over the ongoing Israeli occupation assault on Lebanese territory, demanding that “Israel” be obligated to fully implement Security Council Resolution 1701.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified in the complaint that Lebanon condemns “Israel’s” continued violation of the country’s sovereignty by sea, land and air, targeting civilians, health centers and others, causing hundreds of martyrs and wounded.
The complaint also included the issue of targeting water transfer stations, the Masnaa border crossing, the vicinity of Baalbek Castle, which is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the historic Nabatieh market.
The complaint indicated that Lebanon condemns Israel’s policy of systematic liquidation and assassinations through surprise airstrikes on populated cities, villages and neighborhoods. It pointed out that “Israel” is trying by force and hostile military means to impose its security policy in the region against the sovereignty, security and safety of its countries and peoples, using allegations that are not based on any evidence or proof to prove the narrative it adopts, especially with regard to its claim of self-defense.
Lebanon, in the complaint called on the Security Council to condemn the widespread and continuous Israeli aggression against it and its people and the ground invasion of its lands, and reiterated its call on the Council to oblige “Israel” to fully implement Security Council Resolution 1701 by immediately ceasing hostilities and withdrawing from all Lebanese territories.
Lebanon in the complaint also said: “We count on the fundamental role of UNIFIL according to the mandate granted to it in close cooperation with the Lebanese army to achieve the strengthening of the extension of the state’s authority over all Lebanese territories within the internationally recognized borders.”
