Lebanese Presidency: The Election Amendment Law is now in force

Beirut (ST): The Lebanese presidency announced that the law amending the electoral law has taken effect, after Lebanese President Michel Aoun refused to sign it.

The Lebanese presidency said on its (Facebook) page today, “The law to amend the electoral law has become legally effective after President Aoun refused to issue it and did not sign it because Parliament did not take his notes on the constitutional and legal violations that marred it.”

The House of Representatives had approved a law to bring the election date forward to the 27th of next March after it was scheduled for the 8th of May.
