Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated: “My visit to Damascus marks a new chapter in the relationship between Lebanon and Syria.”
He emphasized, “the decisions of Syria are for the Syrians, and the decisions of Lebanon are for the Lebanese. We seek to build our relations with Syria on the principles of respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.”
Salam further remarked, “my visit to Damascus aims to establish a framework of non-interference in the matters of our two countries. I have discussed with President Ahmad al-Sharaa the management of borders and crossings between Lebanon and Syria.”
For its part, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Prime Minister Nawaf Salam’s talks in Damascus were positive and constructive, and they addressed outstanding issues between Lebanon and Syria.
