Beirut (ST): Lebanese Prime Minister, Hassan Diyab, has announced the resignation of his government a week after the Beirut port explosion.
In a televised speech, Diyab stressed that his government has exerted all possible efforts during the last period to put forward a road map, but there were forces that distorted facts and tried to accuse the government of being responsible for the explosion.
He added that there were some forces in Lebanon that have been responsible for creating sedition to meet their own interests at the expense of people’s interests, noting that the Beirut Port blast was one of the examples of the corruption system.
The Lebanese presidency declared that president Michael Oun accepted the government’s resignation and asked it to continue acting as a caretaker government until the formation of the new one.
