Beirut, (ST) – The Lebanese Parliament has postponed for the fifth time in a row the session to elect a President of the Republic after it was not possible for any candidate to obtain two-thirds of the votes of the representatives today.
The Lebanese National News Agency stated that 47 deputies turned in a white paper. After the votes were counted, none of the candidates got two-thirds of the votes.
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has set a new date for the sixth session to elect a President of the Republic on Thursday, 17 November.
