Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri confirmed in a statement to Asharq Al-Awsat that the Syrian authorities are now more willing to cooperate with Lebanon to return refugees.
He emphasized that Lebanon is developing a plan with the Syrian side to organize a gradual return of refugees that will be larger and more organized than before.
He added that we are working to complete the collection of accurate information on the number of refugees and their legal, social, and economic status.
Return will be gradual and phased, and we are working to ensure its results become apparent over the next year, he pointed out.
