Lebanese Defense Minister: Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine cannot continue without accountability

The Minister of Defense in the Lebanese caretaker government, Maurice Selim, condemned the crimes of the Israeli occupation against innocent people in Lebanon and Palestine which violate all the rules and norms, as well as its flagrant violation of international agreements and coventions.

The Lebanese National Media Agency quoted Salim as saying today: “Arab and international positions must be decisive and deterrent to curb the enemy and put an end to its crimes, especially those committed against civilians, children and women, the latest of which was yesterday in the south, where three little girls and their grandmother were killed in an attack on a civilian car.”

Minister Salim explained that Lebanon’s adherence to international resolution 1701 and its keenness to implement its items by the Lebanese army deployed on the border and in cooperation with the international forces does not necessarily mean that the Israeli attacks and the killing of safe civilians in their homes and on the roads can continue without accountability, because it is targeting the Lebanese national sovereignty on the one hand and violating the international resolutions, on the other hand, in addition to being a direct threat to peace that the participating countries pledged to the UNIFIL forces to reserve it in implementation of the relevant Security Council resolutions.
