Beirut (ST): Lebanese Defense Minister Maurice Salim affirmed the readiness of the Lebanese army to confront any aggression targeting the country.
The Lebanese National News Agency quoted Salim as saying during his meeting with his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosito: The recent developments and military escalation pose a direct threat to security and stability in southern Lebanon.
Salim affirmed Lebanon’s commitment to UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the country’s army’s keenness on the highest levels of cooperation with UNIFIL, security control and maintaining stability and calm in the south, and at the same time the army’s constant readiness to confront any aggression.
