Lebanese customs announces the exposure of trucks transporting international aid to Syria to problems in some Lebanese regions

The General Directorate of Lebanese Customs announced that some social media sites recently circulated photos and videos of the exposure of trucks transporting goods from Lebanon to Syria to problems in some Lebanese regions.  Some statements showed  that these trucks were transporting  smuggled foodstuffs to Syria.

“Within the United Nations food program, these trucks transport sugar and other aid for the benefit of the United Nations and the International Red Cross.  The aids  have come to Beirut port and will be transported to Syria through Lebanese territory by a licensed transport company. This transportation has been taking place publicly and weekly since the crisis began in Syria.” The Lebanese Customs said in a statement.

 

The Directorate pointed out that “some Syrian cisterns enter Lebanon regularly to the port of Beirut with the intention of transporting a quantity of vegetable oils which is originally listed by the Syrian state, therefore clarification is required in order to prevent misleading public opinion.”

Rioters intercepted on Saturday night and today, trucks in Tripoli, northern Lebanon, on the pretext that they were transporting food to Syria from Lebanon.
