Lebanese army reopens some of roads closed by protesters

Today, the Lebanese army and security forces reopened a number of roads that were closed by demonstrators protesting against the deteriorating living conditions.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the army re-allowed traffic at the Cola roundabout in Beirut. The Abbasiya Tire road which was closed in the morning was reopened and traffic returned to normal.

Al- Dora highway and Jal El-Dib highways were reopened to facilitate the passage of citizens, after the internal and sea roads witnessed a teeming traffic jam.

On the other hand, the Zouk Mosbeh highway opposite Saint Charbel Church remained closed for the second day with cars, tires and waste bins.

The protesters continue to gather under the Khaldeh Bridge and along Beirut Sidon highway with stones and blockades.

The protesters closed the western route of Ghazir Jounieh highway with burning tires and waste bins, causing a teeming traffic jam on the highway from Tabarja towards Beirut.

The Traffic Control Room reported that the roads closed within the Bekaa region are Chtoura Square, Taalabaya and Al Rafid.

Since October 17, 2019, many Lebanese regions have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins to protest against the deteriorating living and economic conditions and to demand the fight against corruption in the country.
