Lebanese Army Deals Heavy Blow to Deash Terrorists in Arsal Barrens

BEIRUT- The Lebanese army launched early Friday a major operation against the terrorist-held Arsal barrens in east Lebanon.

The army managed to arrest a group Deash terrorists including its commander Ahmad Youssef Ammoun – aka Sheikh, one of most dangerous Daesh terrorists in Arsal.  

Hezbollah Hails Operation

Hezbollah praised the quality blow the Lebanese army dealt to the ISIL terrorists in Arsal Barrens, considering that it highlights the basic role of the military in defending the border and eradicating the terrorists in order to protect Lebanon and the people, according to al-Manar TV website.

 In a statement, Hezbollah said that this heroic operation is a real expression of the Lebanese armed forces commitment to preemptively strike the terrorists, where it is a must, in order to prevent them from preparing for their criminal acts against the Lebanese.

“This reduces the murderers’ threat in preparation to eradicate them and dismantle their structure which endangers Lebanon’s security.”

Stressing that the Lebanese cannot forget at these moments the servicemen kidnapped by ISIL terrorist group, Hezbollah hoped that this operation and similar achievements contribute to releasing them through the power of the right which is the weapon used by the Lebanese army to strike the criminals.

30 army soldiers and policemen were kidnapped in 2014 during a deadly attack launched by Nusra Front and ISIL terrorist groups on the northeastern border town of Arsal.

16 servicemen, who had been arrested by Nusra, were liberated in December 2015, However, 9 others are still kidnapped by ISIL.
