Lebanese Army Arrested five Members of al-Nusra Front

BEIRUT,(ST)_ The  Lebanese army has seized a small  pickup truck loaded with arms ammunition and  bombs and arrested a number of suspects in Arsal region.

Command of the  Lebanese army  Guidance Directorate said in a statement issued yesterday that “one of army checkpoints in Arsal  area arrested Sunday morning a pickup loaded with a arms , ammunition , light  hand pomegranates and  lightning detonators and special clothing ” noting that several persons involved in this matter were arrested.

The directorate said the detainees were handed to  competent authorities and their investigation began with a  competent court.

In the few past moths, the Lebanese army  seized several  arms smuggling gangs and other criminal gangs that carried out  theft and robbery  acts by force of arms.

Meantime, the Lebanese army yesterday arrested five members of “al-Nusra  Front” terrorists.

Lebanese security sources stressed  that the Lebanese army arrested five terrorists on Mqna Baalbek highway  in the Lebanese Bekaa Valley, pointing out ,that the terrorists are two Syrians, two Palestinians and one Lebanese  who have important responsibilities in “al-Nusra Front.”

Worthy mentioning  that al-Nusra Front has recently become heavily active in Lebanon.
