Lazzarini: Israel uses hunger as a weapon

New York (ST)-The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned of a famine in the northern Gaza Strip, which has been witnessing genocide and ethnic cleansing by the Israeli occupation for more than a month.

Lazzarini said in a statement reported by WAFA News Agency that Israel has used hunger as a weapon, as Palestinians in Gaza are deprived of basics, including food, to survive.

Lazzarini indicated that the aid entering the Gaza Strip is not sufficient, and is an average of slightly more than 30 trucks per day, representing only about 6 percent of the daily needs of the Palestinians, calling for urgent steps to increase the flow of humanitarian and commercial supplies to Gaza, and political decisions to allow convoys to enter the northern Gaza Strip regularly and without interruption.

Israel continues its massacres, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end them immediately and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
