Moscow, (ST) – Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold talks on February 21 in Moscow with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad.
Zakharova said in a weekly press briefing on Wednesday that, the two ministers will exchange views on the developments of the situation in Syria, focusing on the prospects for a political solution to the crisis in it besides discussing the overall situation in the region.
Zakharova indicated that Lavrov and Al-Miqdad intend to discuss the activity of the Astana process, taking into consideration the results of the 17th international meeting, and they will also consider the issue of the work of the committee to discuss the constitution in Geneva.
Zakharova said that it is also supposed to discuss all issues of consolidating and expanding Syrian-Russian relations in various fields and offering practical assistance to Syria in overcoming the consequences of the ongoing crisis.
She said that, great attention will also be paid to the humanitarian situation there and the issue of the return of Syrian refugees and displaced people to their places of permanent residence.
