Lavrov: Western coercive measures are behind the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria

Moscow (ST): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated that the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the West on Syria and the plunder of its resources by the United States are the reason for the deterioration of the humanitarian situation and obstruction of its reconstruction.

Lavrov said during a press conference with his Bahraini counterpart Abdul Latif Al-Zayani in Moscow today that the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the West on Syria have caused the deterioration of the humanitarian situation there.

Lavrov added that the United States is illegally deploying forces in Syria under the pretext of combating terrorism, plundering its oil and wealth and obstructing its reconstruction, stressing that international efforts should focus on fighting terrorism in Syria, not occupying its lands and stealing its natural resources.

Lavrov made it clear that his country will continue to support Syria in combating terrorism until its final elimination, pointing to the need to find a political solution to the crisis in it in accordance with UN Resolution 2254.
