Moscow (ST): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced his country’s determination to resolve the issue of the African Union’s accession to the Group of Twenty as soon as possible.
Lavrov said during the meeting of the Business Council of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, according to Novosti Agency: “In the near future, with our intensive cooperation, the issue of the African Union’s accession to the G20 will be resolved,” noting that this will allow the continent to fully participate in shaping the international agenda and global governance mechanisms.
Lavrov also indicated that the countries of the African continent are interested in working with Russia, expressing his confidence that the Russian-African summit in the Russian-African Forum this year will strengthen relations between the two sides and elevate them to a qualitatively new level.
