Lavrov: Washington must stop taking steps that undermine Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity

MOSCOW, (ST)- Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during a phone conversation with his US counterpart Mike Pompeo on Saturday stressed that Washington should stop taking any steps that would undermine Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Russia Today quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement that the phone call was initiated by the American side. The conversation focused on the situation in Syria and prospects of the US-Russian ties.

 Earlier, Lavrov affirmed the necessity of commitment to Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, reiterating the need to end the US illegal presence in Syria.
