Lavrov: The theft and plunder practiced by the US in Syria is direct colonialism

Moscow (ST) – Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov affirmed that the United States has illegally sent its forces to northeastern Syria and deployed these forcez in a major rich agricultural area where oil and grain production is abubdant, and then extracted the oil and practiced theft, which represents direct colonialism.

Lavrov said during an interview with the Oil Documentary Program that: “In the areas occupied by the US in northeastern Syria, the Americas maintain camps called refugee camps, where bandits are trained, including the terrorist organizations of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham that is banned by the UN Security Council, to carry out sabotage acts on behalf of the US in most parts of the world, including Ukraine.”

He stressed that through all of this, the close connection between oil and geopolitics appears in the policies practiced by Washington.

Lavrov indicated that the West’ intention to defeat Russia in Ukraine may be linked to the desire to eliminate the US’ competitor in the oil markets, pointing out that Russia is one of the leading powers in the production and export of oil and gas, and was the main supplier of gas to Europe.
