Lavrov stresses the need for reconstruction in Syria as soon as possible

Moscow, (ST) –  Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated the necessity of reconstruction in Syria and building the economic infrastructure in it as soon as possible.

At the conclusion of the joint ministerial meeting of strategic dialogue between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Lavrov said that, “we affirmed our adherence to the necessity of Syria’s return to the League of Arab States, and we understand this necessity among the partners in the Gulf states.”

Lavrov stressed the need to continue the fight against terrorism. He pointed out that a group of countries cannot be allowed to dominate the international arena and that his country does not stand against NATO or the European Union, but rather with the implementation of Security Council resolutions unanimously agreed by its permanent members.

Regarding the export of grain, the Russian Foreign Minister said that, it is the Western countries that prevent the supply of grain, and Russia has no problems in supplying it to global markets.” He added that the naval mines planted by the Ukrainian regime in Ukrainian ports are the ones that stand in the way of the export of grain from Ukraine.

Lavrov also said that, our offer to the Western partners is well known, which is to provide corridors for ships transporting grain after removing the mines.”

Regarding the sixth package of Western sanctions against Russia, Lavrov said that with the rise in the prices of energy carriers, some politicians in the European Union have concluded that Russia is earning more after the sanctions”.

Regarding German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s statements about  his country’s possession of the largest conventional army in Europe, Lavrov said that, “Germany and the European partners must learn from the lessons of the past and realize the true meaning behind Schulz’s words and what this trend represents in Europe.”
