Lavrov & Shukri affirm supporting political track for resolving crisis in Syria

Moscow (ST): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed in a telephone conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukri the latest developments in the Middle East, especially in Syria and Libya.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement quoted by Sputnik News Agency that the two ministers reiterated the necessity of supporting the political track of the crisis in Syria in a way that guarantees Syria’s unity and complete respect of its sovereignty.

 The two ministers also affirmed that there was no alternative for the peaceful solution of the crisis in Libya and welcomed the start of the dialogue to resolve the crisis there.

Regarding the situation in the occupied Arab territories,  Lavrov stressed that the main condition for the establishment of durable peace in the Middle East is resolving the Palestine question according to the relevant UN resolutions.
