Lavrov: Russia insists Iran must participate in Syria conference

Moscow will insist on Iran’s participation in an international conference on Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Thursday.

Russian TV (RT) quoted Minister Lavrov as saying today that “All Syria’s neighbors should take part in this conference.”

The minister described objections over Iran’s invitation as a mistake.

Minister Lavrov also said that the international community should decide if it supports forces that use violence to resolve issues in the conflict, or those who favor talks.
