Lavrov reiterates the need to eliminate terrorism in Syria once and for all

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has affirmed that his country will continue to make efforts to settle the crisis in Syria and eliminate terrorism.

 Lavrov said in a speech to the Council of the Russian Federation in Moscow today that it is necessary to implement international resolutions that affirm the sovereignty of states and not to interfere in their affairs.

He reiterated the need to eliminate terrorism in Syria once and for all, while continuing to work for a political solution to the crisis in it that guarantees respect for its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

Lavrov stressed that his country will continue its efforts to settle the crises in Iraq, Libya and Yemen politically, with an emphasis on continuing to fight terrorist organizations until they are completely eliminated.

In another context, Lavrov stressed that the United States’ imposition of sanctions on the Russian North Stream 2 gas pipeline leaves no country with any doubt about the unreliability of the United States.

Lavrov said, commenting on the recent US sanctions that included a number of Western companies that when Washington punishes even its closest allies just for seeking to solve their economic problems and ensure their energy security . There should be no doubt about the un reliability of the USA

Lavrov said that the United States has demonstrated once again that its diplomacy is confined primarily to intimidation in various ways, including sanctions, warnings and threats, noting that Washington and its allies are trying, including through the use of force, to slow down an objective process to crystallize a fairer, more democratic, multi-centered world order.
